About

World Relief is a global humanitarian organization and official partner of the U.S. Department of State that has been serving refugees and immigrants in the Aurora area since 1999. Their Aurora office is an official Illinois State Welcoming Center for all refugees and immigrants in Kane County, providing a comprehensive range of services designed to help newly arrived families rebuild their lives, find belonging, and move toward long-term self-sufficiency. World Relief operates as a Christ-centered organization that works in partnership with local churches and community volunteers, connecting immigrant families with individuals and groups who can walk alongside them through the resettlement process. Each year, World Relief DuPage/Aurora serves more than 5,000 clients — 90% of whom are low income — providing everything from initial housing assistance and basic necessities to legal representation, job placement, and English language instruction.

Additional Details

World Relief Aurora offers an extensive array of services spanning four key areas. Their Refugee Resettlement Program provides newly arrived refugees with initial housing, furniture, food, transportation, and connections to community resources during the critical first months of arrival. Their Immigration Legal Services (ILS) department — accredited by the U.S. Department of Justice — offers affordable legal guidance on citizenship applications, green card renewals, DACA, family reunification, asylum, and other immigration matters. Their Employment Services program connects refugees and immigrants with job readiness training, resume assistance, interview preparation, and employer partnerships. Their Education and Financial Literacy programming includes ESL classes, citizenship preparation courses, and financial literacy workshops that help clients build independence and stability. World Relief also trains and mobilizes “Good Neighbor Teams” — church-based volunteer groups that walk alongside refugee families for a year or more, providing friendship, practical support, and community connection.
