About

Triple Threat Mentoring (3T) is an Aurora-based nonprofit organization that has been fighting the cycle of poverty through passion since 2007. Founded by Caleb Luper, Triple Threat operates on a simple but powerful belief: every person has a passion, and when that passion is shared with an at-risk young person, lives change. Rather than running traditional mentorship programs, 3T connects under-resourced youth with volunteer mentors who share the same interests — whether that’s athletics, the arts, academics, cooking, technology, or entrepreneurship. The result is authentic, lasting relationships that build confidence, character, and life skills in youth who need them most. Since its founding, Triple Threat has connected more than 44,000 at-risk youth with caring adults across the Aurora, Chicago, and beyond. The organization operates programs in arts, academics, and athletics, and has been recognized by the Aurora Police Department as an integral contributor to reducing gang activity, shootings, and youth violence in the city.

Additional Details

Triple Threat Mentoring’s programs go far beyond traditional mentorship. Their The Farm program is an indoor vertical farm in Aurora that grows fresh, healthy food year-round — donated to the community and to students in 3T programs — combining technology, nutrition, and science education in a hands-on setting. Their WINGS program, a partnership with Jordan Brand, reaches 300 students across six schools on the south and west sides of Chicago, empowering at-risk youth through education and community engagement. Their STUDIO3 multi-media space equips youth with tools for creative expression, including songwriting, branding, and digital media. Triple Threat also runs sports camps, art therapy groups (including sessions at East Aurora High School), community clean-up events, and leadership development programs. The organization has been praised by Aurora city officials, law enforcement, and community leaders as a transformative force — described as the “electricity in the community” that changes outcomes for youth who might otherwise fall through the cracks.
